They got it twice!
On the 4th they did it in 2:48:35 and today the 8th they did it in 2:45:45! They had to pass at least two parties from the reports I read.
(Old record was 2:48:55 by Yuji and Hans)
Sounds like they are done with going for it this trip.
Who's next?

Congratulations Hubers! Just
Congratulations Hubers! Just by pure chance I was in the Valley the day Yuji and Hans set the record in 2002. My wife and I drove up to watch the Hubers break their own record last Monday (10/8/07). Both teams looked like something out of the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. After the climb Alex was very gracious and spent considerable time talking with myself and a few of his friends (that introduced me to him). He was very patient and polite. He answered quite a few questions about the climb (preparation, strategy, gear, techniques, etc,..). My guess is that Hans is going to do his best to get the record back ASAP.
Thanks Chris for chatting
Thanks Chris for chatting with me on the phone. I also got to sit down with Thomas and Alexander in SF before their flight home. It was great to hear their detailed report of the ascent and their commentary on the difficulties they encountered.
They know I'm going up after it.
Yesterday I did my first run up El Cap this year. What route you ask? Come on, - the best one. it took Mark Melvin and I 8 hours and 35 minutes. We only need to shave off 6 hours to show those German brothers a thing or two.

"CHALK TALK about the Huber's Speed Record Ascent
of THE NOSE, in 2:45:45. QnA on ways to improve."
I was able to hang out with the Huber's over a beer in June 2006 while they were working on the record. I also chatted with the Huber's, again over a beer, in SF after they got the record this past October 2007.
In the webinar I'll talk about the way the Hubers tackled the route and go pitch by pitch
how my attempts at the record went after talking to them.

I hear that the Hubers will be going up on the 4th of October. They've run up it in 3:10, so they are looking close.
this is hans on the road working to keep the forum active.
